I am so NOT a baker!

I love to cook. I feel like I'm pretty adventurous when it comes to trying new recipes. But, I DO NOT bake....bread, cookies, muffins, cheesecakes, you name it, I just don't go there. I have tried, believe me, but every time I end up feeling defeated. For instance, the other day I was babysitting Milli and Liam, and we decided to make some chocolate chip cookies. I opened up what I thought to be a pretty safe cookbook, the good ole' Betty Crocker Cookbook. I found the basic chocolate chip recipe there and followed the instructions to a tee. Well, I ended up with thin, crispy cracker-like cookies with huge mounds of chocolate chips that even 2 and 3 year olds wouldn't eat! Milli told me I "made the wrong recipe"...apparently so! They were disgusting and ended up in the trash.

Then, I got my handy Kraft Food and Family Magazine in the mail the other day. I LOVE this FREE magazine. It has practical family recipes in it....nothing fancy that you have to run to the store to find. I was making one of my favorite Chicken with Wild Rice Soup recipes but needed some bread for dipping (because dipping is THE best!). Well, I found a recipe for "Easy Bake Cheddar Biscuits" in the magazine. Henry was taking a marathon nap, and I decided "What the heck! I'll give 'em a try", even though my horrible baking experiences kept creeping back into my mind, begging me not to do it. Guess what? It was a complete miracle, but they turned out, and they were GOOD! I made Preston take pictures of me with them because I was SO proud!

They were SO easy to make.....very few ingredients and NO letting dough raise! I stink at even making Rhodes rolls, but these were super, super easy and YUMMY! I would compare them to Red Lobster's Cheddar Bay Biscuits without all of the grease! Try 'em! You won't be sorry!

Impressive! The rolls look delicious..anything with cheese in it makes me drool.

I would have to say that I enjoy cooking, but I am probably not as adventurous as you. On the other hand baking is my thing...we need to get together some time! :)

You need The Ultimate Southern Living Cookbook. It is way better than B.C. for standard recipes. It seriously has everything, it's not just "southern" food. It's my go to, although those biscuits look great!
