I've been wanting to have a date night with each one of my kids one-on-one for a long time.
A few nights ago I took James to a class, errands and to Menchies, and it was so much fun being alone with him.
Kids talk so much more when they have your undivided attention!
Allie and I have been thinking for a long time that we should take Henry and Beckett to Temple Square to see the Joseph Smith movie, so we finally put our thoughts into action.
We left home for downtown, just the four of us...
Beckett and Henry chatted away in the van- covering everything from Lagoon to Disneyland to Cowabunga Bay. Allie and I had no problem conversing between the two of us, of course.
Our first stop was The Garden Restaurant at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.
We knew they had yummy fried pickles and a great view of the temple...
Our two boys were quite silly and were giggling the whole time.
They thought the food was funny, being on a date with their mom was funny and with every conversation they would break into the giggles.
Henry even exclaimed "You are supposed to KISS on a date!"...I think he's been watching too much "Good Luck, Charlie" with his cousins!

Even though we left the toddlers at home, we still had to deal with playing with food...
They forgot to bring their wallets, so the moms had to pay...
It was so cool that the roof was open, so it was as though you were sitting outside.
We tried to settle them down to get a decent picture in front of the temple, but as you can see, we failed.
Henry just may be the next Jef Holm...
After dinner we went to see the movie "Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration". It was so good and quite the tear-jerker.
Henry was asking questions the whole time, and it was nice to be able to sit there and answer them.
After dinner we took a picture by the temple in the dark...
Allie quizzed the boys on the movie so they could earn a treat.
Treat 1: cupcakes at Blue Lemon...
After that sugar-overload we walked through City Creek. Henry held my arm and promised to "protect his girl" from the bad guys. Beckett joked about Lord of the Rings and needing a "2nd treat", so we stopped at The Cheesecake Factory, where we indulged in Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake.
It was getting late and we needed to get our dates home to bed, so we loaded up.
It made for a memorable night out, and I hope there are many more before his first real date!
This kid needs practice!
