On the official national holiday, July 5th, we ventured out into nature with the Ponds.
Nick, Preston's dad, wanted to take us all on the Alpine Loop, like he did as a child with his parents and siblings. We drove from Alpine, Utah, all through the canyon and up through the mountains and came out in Provo, Utah. The trees were so beautiful and lined the roads. It was a crisp 68 degrees and we had our windows down to smell the fresh, mountain air.
We did stop a few times along the scenic drive.
Our first stop was Cascade Springs. It was the perfect little "hike" through the springs for our group of varying ages.
The boys loved to stop on the boardwalk and look at the water...
The views were incredible...
I was happy to have the hubby around for help on this nature walk,
and so were his boys...
James had to hold Grandpa's hand most of the way...
What a fun day in the mountains!
We're hoping it's the beginning of an annual tradition!
Henry was the expert explorer yet again...
Mommy and the little ones stopped for a break in the shade...
Our cute little family of 5...
After our hike we found a little shady spot by the river to enjoy lunch...
The boys played in the water (or hit each other, as it appears James is about to do)...
They got so dirty slidding down the muddy hill to the water that Henry had to put on his "Walmirt" sack overalls to keep our van from getting too filthy on the way home...
What a fun day in the mountains!
We're hoping it's the beginning of an annual tradition!
