Preston and I celebrated 10 years of marriage yesterday.
I always imagined us on a cruise or a trip to Hawaii, just the 2 of us, for our big 10,
but instead we are in Hilton Head....all 19 of us!
The great thing about that is we have free family babysitting &
we get to celebrate with the whole clan!
It was a full day of festivities!
We started the morning out with a bike ride
to a waterfront restaurant for breakfast,
just the two of us.
(Thanks, Mom & Dad!)
Then we returned home to everyone and went for a swim in our beach house pool...
Then we headed to the beach for a bit...
stuck our toes in the sand,
built & destroyed sandcastles,
napped (Stelly Belly),
and went out to jump a wave or two.
We returned home to rid ourselves of sand &
hunt for Ratatouille (the rat that has decided to share a home with us...
he's been spotted 3 times now, but never goes for the traps...
my feet don't touch the floor in fear of brushing against the dirty rodent).
Meanwhile,
little did I know (since I'm usually the planner)
that Preston schemed with my sister to watch our kids
while he swept me away for dinner.
And not just any dinner.
He did good.
He had been in contact with a lady
that sets up private tables on the beach and caters them.
We had our own little table with white table cloth, real dishes, a rose and a candle.
She served us our food and we took in the view.
We even had paparazzi.
Honestly, I was amazed by the thought and action he put into this.
I think it's the best gift he's ever given me.
It took 10 years, but he finally got it right.
He's a keeper.
And I'm planning our real 10 year anniversary trip to Mexico for next year
when we don't have a newborn or family vacation planned.
But this day will do for now.
It was picture perfect!
