Bo Bo is home!

We journeyed up to Heber this past weekend to pick out our Christmas tree. Our friends got us a tree permit again, and we've decided to make it an annual tradition. Nothing beats driving up a beautiful canyon, trekking through the snow, spotting the perfect tree and calling out "timber" as you chop it down and take it home.

This year Henry was really into choosing the tree of his choice. Too bad a 4 and a half year old has no concept of size. He would have loved to pick out an 80-footer. Eventually, he started looking for a "tall small" tree, and then he spotted "Bo Bo". He's very into naming anything in his possession these days. He took one look at the tree, said he wanted to bring it home, and gave it the name "Bo Bo". We won't be letting him name the baby, but we can handle having a tree named Bo Bo in our house for 30 days. The only problem with naming something is that you become attached to it. Henry began asking, "Will Bo Bo be at our house forever?", and then we had to get into the talk about "everything that lives must die" and that just made for a sad discussion during our climb back down the mountain. But once we got "Bo Bo" home and in his stand filled with water Henry forgot that Bo Bo will one day die. (trimming the tree photos to come....we haven't gotten there yet...but I must admit that Bo Bo is pretty darn handsome naked)

Ok so we name our tree every year too. It is a boy name one year and a girl name the next and so on. This year it is a girl and she is named Ruby. We water Ruby - we turn Ruby's lights on, etc. Anyway just thought I would share.
