there's snow place like home (without power or hot chocolate)

We got dumped on this morning. I had plans to drive an hour to have Jeni take James' one year pictures. I woke up to about 4 inches of snow at 7:00am, and by the time I was attempting to leave the house at 10:00am (the power was out, and we were bored...the picture plans were already cancelled due to weather), we had almost a foot. I gave up on leaving when I realized I couldn't open my garage door (I wasn't about to figure out manual mode) and I couldn't shovel the entire driveway (that is A LOT of work). The snow was heavy and my arms were exhausted. I kept telling myself to push through the pain, but the snow was coming down faster than I could shovel. I gave up at about half way. Yes, I gave up. Shoveling isn't my thing (and neither is mowing for that matter). Henry was following me around as I was grunting and huffing, asking for hot chocolate. It sounded delightful, but then I remembered we had no power. Then all motivation was gone. What is shoveling snow without the reward of hot chocolate after?

I'll blame it all on my boots (or the lack thereof)...The power is now on, dinner is smellin' oh-so-good in the crockpot, and both boys are napping. The snow has ceased but my driveway is still a lopsided winter wonderland. Hopefully Preston is ready for some shoveling when he arrives home, and maybe a cup of hot cocoa.
