He had a loving obsession with glasses that is soon to become his daily reality. My poor little guy has inherited his parents bad eyesight and will soon be joining the ranks of the "Jerry Maguire Kid"...
Blonde spiky hair (check). Blue eyes (check). Big Smile (check). Round Cheeks (check). Pop Bottle Glasses (coming soon). I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry about my 3 year old being adorned with eyeglasses. I can imagine him looking cute, unique and sophisticated in his new accessory. But, I can also imagine him refusing to wear them, destroying them (as he's already done mine), leaving them in the top of the McDonald's Playland, and getting made fun of for having to wear them.
Preston was the observant one and noticed that weeks ago Henry started squinting while pointing at things. I took him to the eye doctor today, thinking that they would just send us home saying it was "normal", and confirmed an insightful Daddy's diagnosis.....Henry is farsighted, has astigmatism, and needs glasses.
My brother-in-law sells all types of insurance, but I'm wondering if he sells toddler's eyeglasses' insurance? I'm just not sure how this is going to go with my energetic 3 year old boy. And please tell me that the big elastic strap around the back of his head to keep the glasses snug isn't a necessity?
Now I have to go and hunt down the perfect little frames to enhance my charming son's already adorable face.

I'm sure he is going to look adorable! And I think they make pretty kid-proof glasses for little ones...at least I hope for your sake they do!
I'm not sure how many pairs of Ian's glasses I "mowed" over!! Grass hides them very well.... Good luck Ruthy
It'll be great! I thought all the same things when Lucas had to get glasses. Amazingly enough, he's never NOT wanted to wear his glasses. I think it helped boost his confidence hearing everyone say "oh, I love your glasses." A little positive reinforcement goes a long way.
i'm sure he'll look cute - i share your concern about them breaking though!!
i had glasses from a very young age (though not as young as him) and it's not so bad.
Our kids will be twinners. Henry is going to look adorable. Apparently our insurance will cover the eye exam but not the glasses, and they are surprisingly expensive. Plus, you have to replace them every few months as they grow. Let me know if you find a type of insurance that covers them. I don't think the elastic strap is necessary, at least it wasn't for Indie.

Hey Jesse--it's Keely's friend Gail. I love to read your blog! Just thought I'd let you know that my friend got her son's glasses online instead of at the eyedr's, and she said they were SOO much cheaper. You can even go in and try them on, then order the ones you like online. May be kinda tacky, but it'd save ya $$$! Gail
