Happy 60th Dad!

Today my favorite old man in the world turns 60!

Here are some values I've learned from my dad over the years...
1. HARD WORK. He built his parents' house with his own 2 hands.
2. PERSEVERANCE. He can swish a basketball almost every time because he learned to play by shooting a baseball into a coffee can hanging on his bedroom door when he was young.
3. LOYALTY. He attended JCPenney High School and has worked for the company for 40 years.
4. ATTITUDE. He often said, "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog".
5. COMMITMENT. He witnessed almost every single softball game I ever played in, and I knew right were to find him....along the right field fence.
6. SACRIFICE. He always thinks of himself last. His favorite place on earth is Disney World because he knows that everyone in his family is happy there.
7. AFFECTION. He made up a song for each one of his children and sang it to them as babies.
8. PATIENCE. He bought me a new Jeep Wrangler when I was 16, and spent everyday for 2 weeks teaching me how to drive a stick shift after work.
9. FAITH. He got transferred to Chicago for work when I was a Junior in High School, but he let me stay back in Utah to finish High School (with my HS sweetheart) and go to college.
10. VISION. At restaurants he orders very little because he knows that his 4 daughters and wife can never eat everything that they order.
11. CREATIVITY. He once "helped" me write a poem in fourth grade about the USA that ended with the line, "America the Beautiful, the red, the white, the blue. George would be proud, if only he knew". I (or should I say he?) won an award for it.
12. ADVENTURE. He drove my friends and I in the old station wagon to toilet paper another girl's house when I was 10.
13. COURAGE. He raised 4 girls.
14. HOPE. He sees the positive in everything.
15. LOVE. He does it unconditionally and with ease.

I love you, Dad! And personally, I think your smile is bigger, your muscles are stronger and your style is even better at 60 than it was in the picture above!

Hey Jessie - It is my Christi (Tia's friend). I ran into Keely at the game last weekend and she gave me Tia's blog address and I then found yours.
What you wrote about your Dad was so nice. It actually made me want to cry, but I am at work and really hate to cause a seen. I save those for Happy Hours. Everything was so true. What a wonderful Dad you girls have. Happy Birthday Bob!!
Your family is so cute and Henry will be adorable in his new glasses. I think you will be surprised at his willingness to wear his glasses. I think he will love his new found vision.
I love your families blogs and it has made me want to get one going. However, I can barely get the kids to daycare and school on time so I am not sure how I would do with keeping a blog up to date.
Take care- Christi
