Road Trip Stop #1

We started our big road trip in Orem, Utah, for our local vacation with the Adams. Friday included a visit to the "In and Out" knock-off, Chadders, some bumper bowling at Fat Cats, ice cream at Sub Zero and swimming at the hotel pool. I failed to lug my big ole camera around to those outings, so no pictures of the action.

On Saturday we "hiked" (aka: walked a paved trail) to Bridal Veil Falls to see the waterfall and let the boys frolick in the water. Here's our must-do family shot...James' red hair was shining brightly in the sun as he watched the big boys play in the background...After enjoying the great outdoors, we had a nice meal at Magelby's, followed up by the boys going to see Wall-E, while Allie and I did a little shopping. Our mission was to visit quite a few stores and look for some good deals, but we were attacked by $1 flip flop shoppers at Old Navy and waited for 30 minutes in line to pay which set us back a bit. Then we reunited with the boys to hit the local Nickelcade for good, cheap fun, filled our bellies at Los Hermanos, and went back to the hotel for a final swim.Henry is quite the brave swimmer/diver in his shark floaty.

On Sunday morning we bid farewell to the Adams and headed on our way to Cali. After hours and hours, Cokes and more Cokes, snacks and snack messes, tears and snoozes, nursing pitstops and poopie pitstops, toys and toy fetches (me diving over to the back seat to fetch toys that Henry dropped and whined for), we finally arrived at our Bakersfield hotel at 1:00am.

More on hotel life to come...

I'm exhausted just reading about your first day......I can't imagine how I'm gong to feel when the trip is over!!!

PS--We received a DARLING shirt in the mail today from Australia....I was so confused until I opened it up. Thank you so much - I can hardly wait for football season!!!

No worries, Katie. Life isn't near as full here in Bakersfield. Preston works, we hang out at the hotel. Pretty boring stuff.

I'm so glad you got it! I can't wait to see pics of little Cooper in it!
