Week of Memories: Day Two

December 10, 2004: Conception Day

This may sound like too much information for many of you, but I celebrate conception day around here because it took us too darn long to get pregnant. We had been trying for 2 years and finally threw all of the rules out of the window, and that's when it happened, of course.

First off, we were visiting Utah (but living in California) for Preston's work Christmas Party. The celebration was up at The Canyons resort in Park City. The food was great, the company entertaining, the accommodations amazing, and the cozy Christmasy feel in the mountains was heartwarming. Here we are all gussied up...
December 11, 2004: The Day after Conception

Preston's boss told everyone to treat themselves at his expense the day following the party, so we woke up and decided to go snowmobiling at Daniel's Summit. Pregnant women aren't supposed to snowmobile, or so they say, but obviously we didn't know yet.
December 25, 2004: Christmas Day/Positive Pregnancy Test Day

I decided that I would take a pregnancy test on Christmas day, but I didn't have my hopes real high since I had peed on a million sticks for a few years now and they all had come up negative. I woke up at 6:00am on Christmas morning and couldn't sleep, so I decided to get up and take the test. I snuck off to the bathroom, peed on the stick, went to set down the stick so that I could wipe and flush, but before I could set the stick down it said "PREGNANT". I about fainted. I quietly went to my stash of previously bought baby attire, picked out my favorite pair of little tennies, and made Preston a little Christmas note to go with the shoes and the test in a wrapped box....I woke Preston up, forced him to open the gift half asleep, and we celebrated the most magical Christmas ever. Can you think of a better Christmas present than that?

So that's that. Some of the most memorable times of my life have been starting and raising a family, and this is how it all began.

LOL! I love the story, but did you just say "wipe"? And you wrapped something you peed on? Hee hee. No it's sweet otherwise though. . .

That's awesome that you found out on Christmas, I'm sure that made it that much more special & memorable. I also celebrate conception day (mostly just to myself in my head) every new years eve!
