Week of Memories: Day Five

I have to sum up the week of memories with my very favorite holiday....the 4th of July! There is something about hot summer days, BBQ'ing, fireworks, and just being lazy that greatly appeals to me. I always loved Independence Day growing up. I would usually be playing in a softball tournament that day and then have a pool party with family and friends, complete with a "Wave your Flag" cake and corn on the cob (boy how I love that stuff), and end the night sitting in lawnchairs around our circle and doing fireworks. And, you all have heard the story about the annual standing on the couch or bed and singing "I'm Proud to be an American" at the top of my lungs, with full emotion and believing in every word I shouted. So, the 4th of July is one of my favorites.

It got even better when I met the love of my life. Preston and I met when we were 16 and in high school. We first were friends for over a month and hung out all of the time, and then one 4th of July the fireworks really began and he kissed me.(Looking at this picture you would honestly have NO idea what he saw in me....can you believe those bangs?)

After that, the 4th of July was even more memorable to me. It was Preston and I's first "anniversary" of truly being together. When we got engaged I wanted so badly to be married on the 4th of July, but the temple wasn't open that day. Then, I wanted to let off a few fireworks at the end of our reception, but the place wouldn't allow it. But anyway, I am now infused with a love for fireworks, a love for food, a love of my country and a love of my hubby.....and that is why I love the 4th of July, it encompasses all of the above.

I loved reading this. I met you after you and Preston were already an item so I have never heard how you met.

Isn't neat to look back? I love going back and looking at old pictures of Brad and I when we were dating. Brings back some good memories, doesn't it? The tape of you at the beach is hilarious;)
