irun

..........or at least itry. Remember how last year Pam inspired/forced me to train for a 1/2 marathon with her??? Remember how I loved every minute of it??? Remember how I rejoiced the day I found out I was pregnant while peeing on a stick in the Walmart bathroom and rejoiced at the fact that I was having another baby, but also extremely elated that I didn't have to run another darn mile????

Well, the inspiration/force has happened again. This time my sister, Keely, wants my entire family to run the Chicago 1/2 marathon in September to celebrate my Dad's 60th birthday and retirement. My Dad loves to run, loves his daughters, and loves the idea of retiring, so I thought I better join in the huge celebration. Afterall, my Dad has done so many things for me can't I run a couple of hours for him? I don't know, can I? Running hurts. Running is boring. Running is monotonous. Running and Jessie don't mix. But it's all in the name of Dad, so I'm all for it.

I also got inspired when my other sister, Tia, gave us an Apple giftcard for Christmas. $50 can't buy much at the Apple store, but when I heard that the ishuffle was only $49 I jumped on the bandwagon. I got it in the mail this week, loaded it up with tunes (mostly ones from high school and college because I don't listen to music much anymore...I've got plenty of noise swarming around me without it!), and ran 2 miles with it this morning. 2 miles down, 11.1 to go. I must admit that jogging with a little Ben Folds in my ear made it a little more enjoyable.

Mark won a shuffle and I have run with it a few times. I have a hard time running to music, I prefer on a treadmill watching tv. It makes time go so much faster. Good luck with the training!! I have been trying to run on the treadmill and it is a love/hate relationship. I love how I feel after but it's the getting on and getting started I struggle with.

I think Bob is the perfect motivation for the not so fun thing we call running!

I wondered what kind of cheese you used in your asparagus quiche? I am going to make it but didn't know what kind of cheese? Is there a certain kind?
Thank you!
Kara, a random SAH Mom from Kansas who likes to read your blog every now and then! I relate well. :-)

Kara-
It calls for Gruyère cheese, but I've always just used shredded cheddar cheese. I've never been the fancy cheese type. Let me know what you use and how it turns out!
