Mothers who know do less. They permit less of what will not bear good fruit eternally. They allow less media in their homes, less distraction, less activity that draws their children away from their home. Mothers who know are willing to live on less and consume less of the world’s goods in order to spend more time with their children—more time eating together, more time working together, more time reading together, more time talking, laughing, singing, and exemplifying. These mothers choose carefully and do not try to choose it all. Their goal is to prepare a rising generation of children who will take the gospel of Jesus Christ into the entire world. Their goal is to prepare future fathers and mothers who will be builders of the Lord’s kingdom for the next 50 years. That is influence; that is power.
I'll give it my best shot. It's well worth a try.

Wow! I remember this talk and I remember feeling like I could do better. Thanks for the reminder. What a good new year's resolution!
i have that talk printed out and permanently on my nightstand. i love it.
Occasionally I look at others blogs (from blogs I know) anyway...last night I was talking to my husband about this same thing..WELL KIND OF.....
I was telling him I just felt like a stay at home MOM and that was it...and that I needed to do "SOMETHING" this year....like get a part time job at night so that our little family could go on vacation the end of summer..anyway, just feeling Ho hum lately about being a Mom I clicked on your blog and remember hearing this conference talk (yet forgetting it as of lately) anyway, I'm glad you posted that..It reminded me that the most important thing is to be a Mom at home and that nothing is better than that...I don't need to go out and get a job just so that we can have a fabulous vacation somewhere..I can make life at home fun and inviting..
Truly the greatest gift we are given is the ability to be a Mom and I should be very thankful I can stay home with my kids.
Thanks....I think I'll share that thought on my blog so that I can constantly remind myself of the most important blessing in my life...The title of "MOM"
