"Runner's High"?

Okay, so I've heard of the "runner's high" on many occasions, and I must admit I've felt it before, but not yesterday. This picture captures just how I felt after running 7 miles yesterday morning.....horrible. I looked horrible, I felt horrible. Why would anyone make their body do that for over an hour? It just seems a bit harsh to me. Obviously this criticism is coming from a non-runner. Yes, I am running, but no, I am not a "runner". It may be in the genes, as my wonderful friend/trainer Pam keeps telling me, but it's just not my cup of tea. I hate it. It seems pointless. It's boring. Yes, my body does get a workout (and my knees hurt for days after), but I've gotten a workout doing much more desirable things. I've even forced myself to do boot camp and got yelled at to work out and that was much more pleasurable.

Is there such a thing as a "runner's low"?

Oh, I am so with you on this one!! Maybe you should start out with a little shorter distance and work your way up. I agree with you, I have never felt the "high" that people talk about. My husband did a marathon and it makes me gag in my mouth when I think about it!

I'm impressed....I can't remember the last time I ran. My old bones and body just can't handle the impact anymore. It's biking only these days. Maybe you should make the switch.

actually, if you hate it this bad.....you're going to really hate it more as we go along. if there is nothing about it you want to do, then every step is going to be painful.
