Valentine Retreat 2011

This weekend we were able to get away for a night
with some of our favorite people.
We like to call ourselves "The Fun Bunch"
because we think we are pretty fun,
but you might not.
We have some serious history together.
As in, we have known each other for more
years of lives than we have not known each other,
most of us anyway.
That's pretty serious friendship, isn't it?

We used to be even cuter than we are now,
like when we went on a cruise in 2002,
pre-kids, pre-careers & pre-lifeasweknowit.
We still love each other,
and have hardly anything in common.
Besides each other,
and that's a pretty amazing bond
I'd like to think.

We also get together for food
because we all love it.
Some of us prefer finer food while
others prefer Taco Town,
but we meet in the middle
and are happy,
most of the time.

We began our evening cramming into a small
Toyota Highlander,
with no room for luggage or leg room.
But, we didn't need any of that.
We laughed our way to Logan
for some deliciousness and a dose of nostalgia.
These ones met there...
Then we hopped back into the SUV
for a canyon ride to Bear Lake to the welcoming

We were greeted with hugs and handshakes by
a sweet couple that said they had been waiting for us.
The nice little lady even offered Jeni some doula services
if her 37 week baby boy decided to arrive in the night.
We were shown our theme rooms
which were a bit cheesy but certainly cozy,
complete with Valentine teddy bears, fluffy robes and fireplaces.

Would you believe I had one of the
best nights of sleep in all my life under
the eyes of the tiger?
which we swear we invented 15 years ago
until it was time to retreat to bed.

We woke to the smell of breakfast in the kitchen
and got our fill on homemade cinnamon rolls and
made to order omelettes.
Then we headed back to reality
after we posed in front of the Inn.
We promise to do it all again next year,
leopard-print sheets and all.
