"Recognize that the joy of motherhood comes in moments. There will be hard times and frustrating times. But amid the challenges, there are shining moments of joy and satisfaction."
-M. Russell Ballard
I still have childbirth fresh on my mind, so on Mother's Day I couldn't help but think back to each one of my children's births. They were all amazing, empowering, challenging, but in the end were the 3 biggest shining moments of joy and satisfaction in my life. I've never been the type of mother that feels an instant bond with my little one at the time of conception, and I have never really felt any extreme emotional attachment during my days of pregnancy. I'm sure it had something to do with not knowing if I was having boys or girls and never solidifying a name until after the birth. But, I must admit that the very instant they have each emerged from the womb I have felt an overwhelming amount of love, responsibility and connection for each one of them. They were here, with a face and a name, and they were mine to care for, love, teach and grow.

When I have my moments of frustration, which come daily, I try to remember how Heavenly Father gave me each one of them. They came innocent, perfect and loved, by a Heavenly family and an earthly family. What a huge responsibility I have in fulfilling my mission as a mother. But I know, just like I knew on the days of their births, that the most important thing is to love, connect and teach them, with the help of those around me and the help of divine guidance. And then I thank my Heavenly Father that blessed me with such sweet little ones.
Happy Belated Mother's Day!
{PS...I know none of these pictures are flattering of me, and I almost didn't post them, but then I decided that most aspects of motherhood aren't flattering, and I went for it}
