We left on Friday night for a short weekend trip to St. George. I was expecting the worst....cranky toddlers stuck in carseats, snowy terrain, greasy fast food pitstops, frequent pregnant bladder emptyings in dirty gas station restrooms and a broken down old minivan. My bad attitude deserved what it expected but instead I got miracle after miracle....angelic children who slept and played, clear roads, delicious Shrimp tempura upon arrival and not a need for a single stop the entire 330 miles in our 17 year old Dodge Caravan. Yes, the stars aligned and we journeyed for almost 6 hours in peace and harmony.
And the trip itself didn't let me down either.
We celebrated Preston's 31st in the hotel...
He got his favorite candies from the kids (James is eyeing it and of course, Daddy had to share) and a book & some cooking gear from me. I was happy with my shopping but even happier when he told me it's the best gifts he's ever gotten from me(which basically means that clothes weren't involved).
We got to watch Janelle and Dean run their first half marathon and FINISH!
Don't ya love the arms-above-the-head celebration?
I got teary-eyed waiting at that finish line for them and remembering my run and how amazing it felt to accomplish such a task.
Way to go, guys!
We were able to spend lots of time with family (the Las Vegas Ponds met us there). The cute twins turned 4 the same day as Preston turned 31 so we had a little birthday bash at the hotel.
They were thrilled to blow out the candles on their construction cake and even tackled Uncle Preston's candles, as well. Preston was out of breath from kneeling, so they took good care of him.
The best part of it all was just hanging out with my little family away from home. Isn't it nice to just get away from the dishes, the laundry, the monotony and be able to just relax with the lovies? I think so.
After a weekend filled with good people, good food and good fun, we headed back on Sunday. And, my bad attitude was proven wrong yet again....we were smooth sailing all the way home. Next time I'm going to try and enjoy the ride a little more and actually hope for the best
....and we'll see what that brings.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for coming down to support us on our big day!!! It was a blast to just get away and play!!! You guys are the best!!!
Congrats Janelle!
Preston needs to get you a new car/van for valentines, does he read the comments, how did you deal with the dinging in peace and harmony for 6hrs???
Sidenote: Think your nose is starting to swell, maybe its a boy?
Oh, great! That's just what I needed to hear....the swollen nose is back!? Ugggh!
No, Preston doesn't read the blog or the comments, but he knows how bad I want a new one. We're thinking tax return/baby time.
Actually, the "door ajar" buzzing didn't happen the whole way there or back. Our stars had truly aligned.
