on the road again

Preston and I had the great opportunity to meet our amazing friends, the Posts, in Arizona for the weekend. They had mentioned wanting to go to an MLB game for their anniversary, and Preston jumped on the idea, and we invited ourselves along.

When we originally planned the trip we were so excited to go to Bobby Flay's "Mesa Grill", but as we were finalizing our plans we came to the horrible realization that Mesa Grill isn't in Mesa at all. It's in Las Vegas and New York.....then why Mesa, dude? Our kickoff event instead was dining at Tarbell's in Phoenix. The chef there beat Cat Cora on Iron Chef America. We ate, and ate, and ate, and ate....appetizers, bread, entrees and desserts. All of it was delectable! I can see why he won. Here's Nic and Audra outside the restaurant, before we felt like fat hogs.
After eating the boys wanted to race indoor go-karts. These puppies went 45 miles an hour, and Nic and Preston were neck and neck the whole time. Even though Preston finished the race first, Nic had the better time. Here they are celebrating at the podium (#1 and #2 were teens who I'm sure were regulars there). Don't ya love the headsocks they require you wear for $1?We finished off Friday night with 2 games of bowling, along with all of the other teenagers in town. I lost horribly, but I'm blaming the filthy rap music and disco lights.

On Saturday morning we went to the Mesa LDS Temple. I tried to get a decent shot of us in front of it...But, Preston was more into watching the mysterious old man on the pink mini bike...Saturday afternoon was the Diamondbacks game. The actual game was awful to watch....the D-Backs lost big time, but it was so nice to beat the 106 degree heat and sit in an air-conditioned stadium for 3 hours. Our seats were pretty good too. At one point, Nic and Audra got up to go get a treat and a foul ball was hit directly into Nic's seat. It would have been exciting to have him there to catch it, but I would have been scared to see what would've happened to his face had it hit him....it was a very hard line drive. We finished off the trip with "All About Steve?", and all I have to say about that is don't see it. I wish I wouldn't have.

The trip was a great success and a nice break away from the kids. The thing I love the most about the Posts is that we spend most of our time together doing this.......laughing hysterically.

Thanks, guys! Let's do it again!
