roughing it

We went camping with Preston's family this past weekend. I had a great time, mostly because Henry played so independently and so nicely with his cousins. That was a huge break for me. I spent most of the time relaxing with Baby James, reading and chatting with the family over the campfire.

My favorite shots of the trip were at sunset. It made for a great backdrop.
Look at these carefree cousins, dancing at dusk...Speaking as a previous teacher, I've always heard that kids are more hyper during a full moon, and I'd have to agree. They were running around, being silly and making up plays most of the time.James spent the majority of the time eating grass or playing with toys in his Bumbo...Henry enjoyed going in and out of everyone's trailer, but was more than happy to sleep in the tent outside...I think Henry is taking after his Daddy's love of the outdoors. He honestly was so well behaved and just loved playing in the dirt, climbing the rocks, and finding bugs. I'm tempted to live full time in a tent out in the wilderness...it would make this parenting stuff a lot easier.

Looks like fun! Ben talks about camping all the time - I think most little boys would be perfectly happy living at a campsite. I can't believe how big James is getting - he is so cute!

Camping does create easy fun for the little ones! Sam just needs dirt and a stick also!
