a need for the finer things
While away on our journey, James began grabbing at every piece of food I lifted towards my mouth. We'd be out to dinner, I'd be trying to eat, and he would be aggressively trying to steal my utensil or suddenly take a nosedive for the food on my plate. I took this as a sign. This kid really wants food and not just the mother milk. So, I followed the rules and bought some rice cereal. I mixed that rice cereal with water. I spoon fed him a bite. This is what he did. Spit it all over himself (repeatedly), and then began trying to flee the situation (he was literally bucking out of his carseat)...I just ended up with a big mess and a mad kid. I've been attempting here and there ever since with the rice cereal, and he continues to show no interest. But when I offer him my 44 oz. fountain drink he goes to town (no worries, he really doesn't know how to work the straw). Or, when he is presented with an empty corn cob (as he was again tonight) he acts as though he's hit the jackpot. I really think this kid prefers the finer things.....what tops Coke and corn on the cob? I would say nothing.

Well clearly he is a very smart baby!!
My kids have never iked rice cereal. they always spit it out. When I try giving them "real" food they go to town.
I never succeeded in getting Owen to eat baby food. After they've had chicken nuggets (or corn and Coke), who wants to go back to baby food?
