We had our annual Ward Campout this past Friday. It was my kind of camping. Preston prefers backpacking in the middle of nowhere with the wild animals. I prefer running water, a flushing toilet, a picnic table and a safe place for baby to play... Who needs a campfire when you can have BBQ's?Of course we started a fire after the 98 degree sun set. We had to have some smores....Henry enjoyed the glow necklaces...And a big thank you goes out to Neil and Allie for planning such a big event...They managed to plan, execute, and successfully satisfy over a hundred people, all while Beckett pushed the limits...Way to go, guys! I also owe Neil an apology and a thank you. Upon nearing my tent for the evening I spotted what appeared to be a large, black animal running across the way. I screamed, jumped into the Adams tent, and told them about my sighting. Neil armed himself with a flashlight and went out to find a raccoon eating Peanut m&m's near the river. I guess the raccoon and it's shadow appeared much larger in the dark of night.
I'm starting to realize that the 4 of us sleeping in a 2 man backpacking tent doesn't really work. Preston slept peacefully on his back, snoring the night away. Henry tossed and turned. James and I cuddled in the very corner of the tent. It wasn't my best night of sleep, but Preston did let me sleep in a little and spent some quality time with James the next morning...
