While paying for some new capris at JCPenney a couple of weeks ago, the cashier looked at James in the stroller, smiled and said, "He has such a pixie look about him". The other elderly cashier glanced over, smiled, and replied, "Oh, he does!!!". I grabbed my bag, walked out of the store, and felt a little unsettled about what exactly they meant when they called my son a pixie. For one crazy person to say it is fine, but once another steps in and agrees, there must be some truth to it. So what exactly does that mean, pixie?
Since this event I have asked a few people what they think she meant. They're thinking he's either being compared to...
1. a fairy.
2. Pixie Sticks (however that works out)...
3. Peter Pan (someone said, "well, he is a little Peter Pan-ish")...
I'm just not finding any of the above very flattering. So please help me understand why my son is being referred to as a pixie. Any ideas?

Pixie usually means elven features. Long thin face, big eyes, small nose. And usually it's in reference to girls. I'm not seeing any of that in your son.
Maybe because he is happy? I have no idea. I would never think Pixie when I look at James!
I think people think of pixies have red hair.
Pixie?? What DOES pixie mean? What a weirdo thing to say. I think the person who turned and agreed just agreed to be agreeable.
I have never head that myself. when you find out let me know too!
i don't think she meant it negative.
What a stange comment to make! I agree with Pam, I think she meant it in a nice way. James is too handsome to be a fairy.
Don't worry about what people think, he's adorable.
