grandma's "hair"
You all know that we've had mice in the past and still treat for them, just in case. Well, on Sunday night when Preston's parents were over for dinner, Henry ran to the bathroom to get a tissue for his oozing nose, and discovered that Grandma had lost her hair near the bathroom floor. He hustled back out to his Aunt Janelle, and said frantically, "Nellie, come look". Janelle followed him down the hall where he proceeded to point at the chunks of steel wool coming out of the floorboard (to block the mice from getting in or out of the walls) and said, "Uh-oh, Grandma's hair fell out. Check on her". He then ran back into the kitchen to get Grandma, lead her to the bathroom area and showed her where her hair had fallen out on the ground. He was truly concerned that she had lost some of her hair and wanted to make sure that she was okay. Funny thing is, this "hair" has been there for months and he's never said a word about it. I guess once Grandma walked in the door with her greying hair he made the connection that the hair on her head looked just like the steel wool he had seen in his bathroom so many times. I couldn't be embarrassed by his realization, I was too busy laughing myself to tears and beaming with pride that he was figuring out his world little by little. Not that he was correct about his assumption that that was Grandma's hair lying on his bathroom floor, but still, it takes a smarty pants to analyze something for months and finally come to a conclusion! What a kid! And, I must admit that the heap of steel wool does look very much like a chunk of wooly, grey hair. I've been alarmed by it a few times myself. But, no mice in 3 months, so we'll keep Grandma's hair around a little while longer.

Is that Grandma? I can see why Henry would be confused! That is seriously the cutest thing I have heard in a while!
