being crafty

I know I talk and rave about her all the time, but my best friend Pam is the craftiest person in the world. She's always got projects going on and whips them up in no time. I mention buying something and she always replies with, "Oh Jessie, you could make that so easy". Prime example: I bought James' blessing outfit online yesterday, and Pam's getting ready to hand make her little Greta's gown. See, I view buying things as quick and easy....and it is. But, she's putting hard work and love into making her upcoming daughter's blessing dress...now that's a memory maker! She'll always remember that her mom sweat hard over that one and that it was sewn with only her in mind. How sweet! Poor James...he just gets the sweat shop workers sweatin' on his attire because his mom doesn't even want to think about having to spend hours and hours piecing things together.

Pam recently told me that she was going to make flannel boards to tell scripture stories to her kids. I was sold on it when she informed me that it was cheap, quick, easy, and that she would come to my house and walk me through every step. We committed to getting together on her day off, and get this, she showed up despite her illness, AND showed up with a mask on! What a friend!She did all of the dirty work (putting the actual flannel on the board, cutting out the material and heat 'n bond, and framing itl), while I just followed her every direction and ironed (I CAN do that!). So here we are with our completed flannel boards (that is just a sampling of the scripture people)...So thanks for being my craft mentor, Pam, and easing me through this one (and preventing us from catching the Plague)! We've already got some use out of it, telling the Easter Story on Sunday night, and it's a hit with Henry!
