My sister posted on her blog that she thinks that our family is the only people left in the world buying real trees these days, and I have to say amen to that. I'm also in full agreeance that it can be a pain to find a good one, tote it home, put it up, decorate it, vacuum after it, and keep it watered, only to trash it a few days after Christmas. But, I will never go without this tradition, and our hunt for a real Christmas tree on Saturday afternoon confirmed that.
We found a local tree farm that was selling Scotch Pines for just $25, any size, any shape. Now these aren't the prettiest of trees, but we couldn't pass up the opportunity to search amongst the forest row, saw in hand, for an affordable, full of character tree to adorn our living room for the next 3 plus weeks.
Henry's ready to look for the perfect tree, with hot chocolate in hand...Even Preston got into the spirit of it, all duked out in his Santa hat. Henry wanted a turn holding the saw. He'd never have gotten this chance with a fakey! This is the one!....Cuttin' 'er down...Henry didn't quite like the tree laying on top of him...As Henry chanted "tree...home", Preston hoisted it up on his shoulders and headed for the truck. Now the tree is standing pretty, all decorated and glowing in our house. More on that tomorrow...

There isn't enough money in the world to get me to do that.
Now I will say that I used to love going to pick out our tree with my mom, but it never involved a foot of snow or chopping down the tree. We would just point to the one we wanted and some guy would load it up.
that is a great tree I can't wait to see pictures of it all decorated!!
My sister that lives in CA went and cut down a tree too, They went in short sleeves and NO coat this year!! She said it was weird to not do it in the snow ( they just moved from Rochester NY to Calornia) but they still love getting a fresh tree as well!!
I am weeping with envy right now, I love that snow and those pictures!
We went there too, on Saturday! We got there around 1pm. It was such a cute little place. Weldon loved the hot chocolate too! What time did you guys go?
i love it, i hope we can get in the spirit sometime..
